Eaton Corporation, Condura I Plant, converted our MRP II system from AMAPS to BPCS on September l, 1995. [The Unbeaten Path consultant*]  assisted us during the Discovery and Prototype phases of our implementation. He worked with our implementation team members, both individually and collectively, to assist them in discovering the features of BPCS and documenting their processes.

He is very knowledgeable of the BPCS software and its strengths and limitations. He also has a broad knowledge base of how other companies have made use of its features and worked around its limitations. He did not, however, come to our plant with any preconceived notions of how the sol, ware should be set up. He introduced the team members to the possibilities and options in BPCS. He assisted them in structuring and performing tests on various set-ups. The team members analyzed the results and decided what would work best for their applications.

He also made sure that the team members understood what was happening "behind the scenes" in BPCS as they performed various processes. He explained what files are involved, what data they contain, and how BPCS uses these files. The team learned how their individual actions within BPCS affected each other. He also assisted the team members in the use of queries to extract data from the system. Since our team members are knowledgeable about how the software works, they are usually able to analyze and solve problems themselves.

Another of his strengths is in his approach to program management. He developed control documents that can be used to document deliverables and timing. A project manager can use the control documents and easily keep track of the areas that are falling behind schedule. If the team follows his approach, there will be complete documentation and flow charts at the end of the project. This documentation is a valuable training tool for use in training the end users.

Our experience using him as our consultant was positive and I would highly recommend him to anyone who is in the process of starting a BPCS system. I am certain that we will have fewer problems in the future as a result of the extensive planning and preparation that we accomplished with his assistance.
